Opening acts were Nash the Slash and Joe Jackson (a last minute replacement for The Clash who were on SNL). Joes set did not go well! The amiable English pop crooner was jeered mercilessly throughout his warm-up performance and, as legend has it, walked off stage shortly after being struck by a perfectly thrown "loaded" hotdog. Nash fared better partly because he was local and also because of his unique cover of Baba O'Riley.
