Fanreports

This was my first Who gig that left me spell bound and a fan now for over 34 years. It was a strange location,as many of the crowd were actually on the ICE in Skates. It was a sell out but it looked empty in front of the stage as most people were around the edges of the rink and around the balconies.
I remember the band coming down from a dressing room high above one of the balconies and generally messing about all the way through the crowd and security guards.Pete had his Toreador short coat on and Keith used the pictures of Lily Kit.During a Quick One ,Keith stood up and held a floor tom tom on his stool and played on the shell, then threw it backwards to a roadie who caught it.Keith threw loads of sticks into the crowd and laughed aload as skaters legs and arms went everywhere whilst they fought for their momento. Roger swung his microphone way out over the crowds heads and at one point it failed so he simply threw down and walked to the side curtain where a replacement was thrust into his waiting hand.In 1968 this was impressive roadime reactions.
Roger was still doing his head in the Bass Drum tricks and scrapped his mic over the cymbals in My Generation. At the end Kieth kicked over a couple of Cymbal stands and Pete banged his guitar on the floor/into the amps but did not do a full smash. It was an unforgettable night with The Who at their late 60s best.
