Fanreports
Bruce Nelson
I attended the shows which were scheduled to be part of a double-header, with a 6PM and 8PM show if my memory is correct. In front of the auditorium (which, btw, was the site of the Academy Awards for many years) was an English Double-Decker painted like the bus on the Magic Bus LP (maybe it was the original). Got there early for the 5PM show as the tickets were GA; I was lucky enough to sit in the front row directly opposite Pete. Because ticket sales were so poor, an announcement was made that the shows were going to be combined (not a very good deal for those who had tickets for the later show!). The boys seemed especially angry that evening, but played a great show, complete with Keith kicking his "Pictures of Lily" drumset into the orchestra pit before stalking off. I strolled into their dressing room (security was really lax in those days), but the scene was so hostile that I quickly backed out without speaking with anyone. The setlist has long been forgotten, but I'm sure they performed My Generation, Magic Bus, A Quick One, Boris, I'm A Boy, Pictures of Lily, Substitute and Happy Jack.
