Fanreports
Paul Wolfson
Townshend sang "Drowned" so Roger could rest his throat. During Pinball Wizard, several strings on the guitar broke during the critical guitar solo finale, but he kept playing. A stagehand went up to him with a new guitar right in the middle of the song and he stopped playing and lifted up both hands in frustration as if to say "what am I supossed to do with that -- I can't change guitars in the middle of the song!" They had a set of guitars hung on a rack for him and he changed guitars often throughout the concert. But, the strings kept breaking during his windmills, and at one point, he just threw his guitar way up in the air in disgust and let it crash on the floor. He wasn't a happy camper. The audience went nuts over it and liked the show, however. The warm-up group was T-Bone Burnett. I couldn't get tickets without going through a scalper -- $30 each. There were advertisments in the READER newspaper for front row center for $150.00 each. The acoustics were great at the Rosemont -- Still are.
