Fanreports

Jeff Hall

The show was nearly sold out. It was also Rogers birthday. The crowd was a mix of us old geezers along with families and younger couples. Quite a few fathers and sons. Pete has never looked so happy and his guitar playing reflected that mood. Intense but playful. The new material was performed well. The crowd went crazy during Baba o Reily. The cheering so loud at the end you could barely hear the band. Townshend quipped after the song "We don't know what that song means anymore but I guess you do..." The last song Tea and Theater was very touching. I know the song is part of The Boy Who Heard Music, but is impossible not to feel it is about Pete and Rogers life together when Roger sings "when we walk from this stage". Not a dry eye in the house. I've seen the Who a dozen times spread out over 30 years and many locations but could never have guessed that they would have some of their best concerts when 60 years old. But that is the truth.
