The Who was in concert at "The New Place" in Algonquin, IL on July 31, 1968. DJ/emcee was Larry Lujack from WLS/WCFL radio, Chicago.
The New Place was a converted Barn with large inside and outside audience capabilities. Other featured band was the "California Prune Advisory Band" from Elgin & Bartlett, Illinois. Warm-up group was "The One-Eyed Jacks" from Champaign, Illinois. I was a lead singer in the "California Prunes" and we had dinner (burgers) with The Who prior to the show. We were all impressed with the equipment manager putting /piecing old "destroyed" instruments back together and placing back into service in playable condition.
Great crowd, and great night.
