I came across your link while trying to find info on upcoming U.S. tour. Very nice concert guide and overall site. Just wanted to add my two bits on this particular concert at Madison Square Garden on Tues., 11/6/74. First, I've been to many, many concerts over the years (I'm now 40), and this concert is absolutely No. 1 on my list. This was a very, very special night. And thanks to your concert guide, I've finally pinned down the date which has eluded me all these years. As I remember, the Monday night concert was flawed by sound problems that totally frustrated the band, according to the reviews at the time, and the concert did not live up to its potential. The next night, Tuesday, I and three friends went with great anticipation, hoping they had figured out the sound problems over the last 24 hours. It was clear from the opening that the sound was definitely up to standard ... in fact, simply awesome. From start to finish, it was the finest performance I have ever heard, and still stands to this day as No. 1.
One of the reasons I think this concert was so exceptional is that Daltrey announced early on that this particular night was their 10th anniversary as a band, and they were ready to play! Notable songs (ALL were superb): Won't Get Fooled Again - simply blistering; Bell Boy - with Moon exploding over the drum kit onto the front of the stage. So I just thought I'd pass that on for the hell of it, because it truly is burned into my memory forever, and I'm just glad now I have the actual date.
