Thanks for all your hard work and effort on this site. It's truly amazing. I was at this show. The set of four shows was said to be 'consolation' concerts for The Who's London fans as thousands could not get tickets to see them at the Lyceum . Only 9,000 tickets were available! The very last night at the sundown, the 23rd December was one of the best I've ever seen. The Who were in a very good mood and joked with the audience. At the end of the show, they played four encores! This is unheard of in Who history! But I can confirm this, along with my friend Ray Coleman who was with me. Sorry, but my memory fades as to what the songs were! At the end Moon destroyed the huge gold drum kit and Pete demolished a red or cherry Gibson les paul. Fantastic. The Who also blew up a rather huge but jolly looking Santa Clause and the roadies threw snowballs into the audience. I went home with a piece of guitar and three of Moon's drumsticks which I still have today. The guitar bit has been lost!

While listening to the Who in concert at the Spectrum Theatre in Philadelphia from 4th Dec 1973, it reminded me that only 19 days after that concert I would see the Who for the first of many times over the next 34 years ! My main memories of that fantastic Sunday night are all the crowd in the seatless stalls section calmly sitting on the floor during the support act Babe Ruth's set then as one rising to their feet and rushing down to the stage front as the Who took to the stage. Then the time flew by as the band played an excellent set with Daltrey swinging the mike around at an amazing speed then dispensing paper cups of drink to those lucky enough to be at the front, while Entwistle, Moon and Townshend provided the loudest noise I had ever heard leaving me with ringing ears most of the following day. As I was only 15 then it was definately a night to remember.
