PINK Floyd were the biggest hit at Live 8 with Daily Mirror readers.
Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour's reunion after 22 years was voted the favourite performance at Hyde Park for 34.5 per cent of readers polled.
Robbie Williams got 20.5 per cent of votes. Veteran rockers The Who were the third most popular polling 10.5 per cent.
Madonna came fourth on 7.7 per cent and UB40 were a surprise fifth with 6.2 per cent.
Pete Townshend of The Who said: "I'm delighted to come third. It's lovely to think we've still got fans who rated us above Madonna."
And appearing at Live 8 in London had an added bonus for the stars - it sent record sales soaring. Pink Floyd's brilliant performance sent sales of their CD Echoes: The Best of Pink Floyd soaring 13 fold at HMV yesterday.
In fact, every act at the Make Poverty History gig was doing well in the shops - apart from Pete Doherty.
His shambolic rendition of Children of the Revolution with Elton John turned off fans.
And The Bracket - the album he recorded with The Libertines - sold 35 per cent less copies in the week to last Sunday.
Pete Townshend said: "Our sales went up 832 per cent over the weekend - that's because we sold one record on Saturday and 832 since."
Live 8 was a huge TV hit with 9.6million British viewers watching it. It had an average of 4.2million on BBC2 on Saturday afternoon - the same as watched the Wimbledon ladies' final.
But when coverage switched to BBC1 after 6pm, more tuned in with an average of 7.8million watching. Audiences peaked when The Who were on.
Pirate copies of the Live 8 DVD went on sale on eBay less than 24 hours after the concert.
Bob Geldof's spokesman said: "The people who do this are cretins, scum."
eBay said last night it had removed the listing.
