As an ancient Who fan (32 years, 12 shows), I was ecstatic about their performance at the Pepsi Center in Denver Thursday night. It was the best performance I have ever seen them give since Keith Moon died. Pete's guitar playing was more intense and passionate than any concert I have seen him perform, including the three I saw with Moon (1971 twice, and 1976). I have never seen him play with such sustained brilliance and pure awesome energy. It's as if he has decided to have the last laugh --"you didn't think I could still do it, did you?". It's the type of electric guitar we've hoped and prayed for from Mr. Townshend since the magic of Live at Leeds. And Roger, John, Zak, and Rabbit -- what can you say? Simply magnificent. The Who don't jump, twirl and smash like they used to (do any of us?), but they are more brilliant than ever.
