Fanreports

Matt Chaplin

Damn, it was hot that night. It was well over 80 degrees F (30 degrees C) and the Silverdome doesn't have air conditioning.

While it was nice to see THE WHO again after a 7 year absence, it was disappointing to see some many other people on stage with THE WHO.

THE WHO seemed to running the aging rock band playbook to perfection. That is make sure you have the following: Great Light Show (to distract the crowd), Lots of Backup Singers (to fill those notes that the lead singer can't hit anymore), and a Horn Section (to fill the guitar spots the lead guitarist won't play anymore).

With those criticisms out of the way...

The Tommy section of the show was very professional and well done. The added personnel definately enhanced this portion of the concert.

The solo Townshend stuff they played definately felt forced and un-Wholike.

Entwistle was dependable and it was a definate treat to her Trick Of The Light (even if a vast majority of the crowd was unimpressed.

Daltrey was impressive and maintained his vocals throughout the entire show.

Townshend played electric sparingly and I felt he summed up his attitude quite appropriately in the opening line to 5:15 (Why should I care, why should I care?).

In conclusion, it was nice to see THE WHO out on the road after 7 years, but the added distractions and Pete's "only in it for the money" attitude put a damper on the festivities.
