The Who played at The Checkerdome. Originally built in 1904 as part of the St. Louis World's Fair, it became known simply as the Arena. In 1977, Ralston Purina bought the St. Louis NHL team, The Blues, and the Arena, where they played. As Ralston Purnia was known as "Checkerboard Square", they changed the name of The Arena to The Checkerdome. That was the name of the building when The Who played there in 1980. I know. I was there. I still have the ticket stub. There was never a building in St.. Louis called the Coliseum.
