This show was played without Roger. The day before the band had cancelled the concert in Malvern, Winter Gardens. The group's equipment was sent on ahead to Malvern but at 7pm the theatre took a call saying the group's van was having brake trouble and they would be late in arriving. Support band The Deep Feeling (featuring Dave Mason and Jim Capaldi) played for the whole of the evening. The Who were on the point of splitting up with Roger threatening to walk out.
