Fanreports
Bill Moirarty
I attended this show and for years have told people that The Who opened for Herman's Hermits which seems like such a joke now, of course. Some folks have been incredulous when I've told them and I even began to think I must have had it wrong, but the posting from the St. Louis show at Kiel Opera House a week or so before confirms it. I had just turned 15 years old and was a Who fan from the start. I had to see them even if I was going to suffer through "Mrs. Brown You've Got a Lovely Daughter". This was The Who's first US tour and God they ripped it up. Smoke bombs went off in the amps, Pete windmilled and smashed his axe and Moonie kicked his pedals right through the bass drums. What a sight what a night.
